What Ever Happened?

What ever happened to the people you once knew? Those people who you once shared a hallway with at school, those people who once were considered as your friends, and those people who you once were in love with?

What happened after that last moment you saw them when you guys took separate paths that haven’t crossed since you said your last goodbye to them?

For me, when I think back to those people. I always imagine that they have remained the same person that I remember only through my memories and where ever they ended up, it ended with them being happy with no problems. It’s as if I illustrated a fairy tale ending for all of them in my mind because I only remember them from when we were all innocent, where they hardest problems we faced we homework assignment and studying for test. How could their lives go wrong?

Reality is though that life doesn’t work that way. When you say goodbye to someone, their lives still go on like yours does. And on the way, they face misfortunes, problems, and disasters along the way like you do. As sad as it is you think about, some of them faced some of their greatest challenges once you walked out of their lives, some might of found their lives in a total mess, faced unimaginable evil or darkness, and even some people you once knew could of took their last breath in this world. 

But it’s not all that bad because for every terrible thing that could of occurred to these people of your past, there are great things that could of happened as well. Lots of them could of fell in loved since you saw them, had families they now love with all their heart, had dreams come true, or even become famous. 

So what ever happened to these strangers of your past? The funny thing is that it’s an answer you may never find out. You may never even see them again except through memories and old photographs slowly fading away. It’s interesting though, because you start to realize like how these people were once part of your story in life, you were part of theirs as well…and once the chapter you guys were in together ended, each story still continued on for the better or for the worst. But that’s life. So just enjoy the time you have together, and when it’s time to say goodbye, wish them good luck on the journey they have next.
